“Gal Mukt Dharan, Gal Yukt Shivar” is the scheme of the Maharashtra Government. Its meaning is “Silt Free Dam, Silt Containing Farm”.
The state of Maharashtra is the state with the most dams and reservoirs in the country. Due to the annual accumulation of silt in the dams across the state, the storage capacity of the dams has been reduced to a great extent. If the silt accumulated in this dam is pumped and spread in the fields, the original storage capacity of the dam will be restored and the agricultural income will increase greatly.
Taking this matter into consideration, the government has adopted a policy of removing the silt from the dams in the state and spreading it in the fields. For this purpose, the Government is implementing the scheme “Sludge-free Dam, Silt containing Shiwar” through the Department of Rural Development and Water Conservation. The government involves NGOs and people in this work. As per the government decision, Om Adinath Charitable Organization is implementing the “Sludge-free Dam, Silt containing Shiwar” scheme.
