In rural areas, where there is a need to change the habits of society, the contribution of NGOs becomes valuable. The organization’s role is more risky when working with the government in development projects where both technology and financial investment are involved.
Small Irrigation Projects The organization has played a very good role in both the projects constructed in two villages Umrani and Gugwad in the Sangli district of Maharashtra from the beginning to the end. These two ponds have been constructed through the German Bank Subsidiary Small Irrigation (Establishment Level) and the scheme is subject to separate rules from the prevailing government rules. A further step has been taken from the idea of participation. People are involved in this scheme from the time they select the project site. Small Irrigation (Establishment Level) i.e. Micro Irrigation of 101 to 250 hectare benefit area when constructed, the project requires NGOs to work in five phases. As important financial participation is expected in the water distribution system, its construction or construction is done only through the farmers. Further, all the water rights in the lake are given to the cooperative water distribution organization. Therefore, farmers work to keep both the water distribution system and the actual dam safe. Farmers decide on crop planning (crop pattern) according to the available water. The best kind of self-planning makes you financially empowered.
