Maisal Irrigation Scheme

This irrigation project was set up on the banks of the Krishna river at Mhaisal in Miraj taluka of Sangli district on the Maharashtra-Karnataka border.

It is said that the scheme was named ‘Mhaisal Irrigation Scheme’ as water will be taken from the Krishna River from Mhaisal and given to the drought-prone areas.

The Maishal Project

Balasaheb has consistently followed up on the Maishal Upsa Irrigation Scheme which has tried to provide water to agriculture by starting the water cycle in every season of the year. They have a great insistence on delivering water to every village and village area of Miraj East. Whether in power or not, Balasaheb is always struggling to save the farmers’ crops. Balasaheb works with the understanding that he must find a way out of all the difficulties encountered in the case of the Mhaishal project. Balasaheb handled the issue of minor distribution of Salgare Chabukswar Wadi in court and the area which was pending for several years and the Chabukswar Wadi area was deprived of water. The farmer who had filed a case in the court to prevent the construction of the canal, Balasaheb took the farmer into confidence and got him due justice from the government. Repeated meetings between the complaining farmers and government officials were arranged. The complaint was withdrawn, and the work was completed, that’s why hundreds of hectares of agriculture got water today. Khanderajuri, Dongarwadi, Aarg, Laxmiwadi, Linganoor, Khatav, Erandoli, Malgaon, Tanang, Belanki, and Salgare, tried to provide water by solving the problems in these areas. For this, even they reached the Ministry, went on hunger strike, protested, blocked the road, held meetings and made the farmers aware, waived the water bill to the farmers, and forced them to release water from the drought fund. Balasaheb has word-of-mouth information about the number of pumps for lifting water in the first phase from the first phase of the Maishal scheme to Salgare to the fifth phase, from the rising main to the small minor canal, from HP to the Salgare phase.

Having all the information and being a farmer himself, whether it is the Ministry, the Chief Engineer’s office in Pune, a meeting with the Collector, S.E or E.E. Warnali Irrigation Office or the rude officer, how is the farmer’s side true and what can you give us, how can we set the rules? Balasaheb also threatens to reply by saying that he can. Farmers should get farms according to the schedule by running the Maishal Yojana actively and permanently. We aim to bring inch by inch of farmers’ land under irrigation.
